Last Stop How to find every anomaly

A method for posters, NPCs, lights, and sounds so you stop guessing at the door.

How to Spot Anomalies

Spotting is the whole game. Last Stop does not hide a key behind a bench. It hides a one-pixel lie in a car you already walked through. This page is the method. Ranked examples live on easy anomalies and hard anomalies. Tick them off with the checklist.

If you still need lobby and mode context, use getting started. If you already know the scan and keep dying to mid-run panic, use the walkthrough.

Build a baseline, not a vibe

An anomaly is a difference from Cart 20, not “something spooky.” A clown is normal if Cart 20 had a clown. A clown that becomes a doll is not. A missing poster is normal; a missing poster that now says YOU are missing is not.

Re-memorize after every failed run. Updates can add props. The May 2026 store copy still tells you to watch pictures, color, and sound — that sentence is the design document.

Visual families

Signage. Stops Remaining turns green, says GO BACK, or hides YOU WILL DIE on the reverse. Next Cart becomes TURN BACK or gains a red outline. Have a safe ride becomes NOT safe or tilts. The caution sign teleports under the number.

Lighting. Separate tubes merge into a strip. Lights fail one by one, go red, go painfully bright, or die completely. Heaven-white glow at the far door with choir is a tell, not a shortcut.

Layout. The whole car mirrors. Handlebars vanish. Boxes move. Seats turn green. Windows crack. Outside becomes backrooms or a laughing crowd.

Small props. Soccer ball, open electrical box, Japanese symbol on the box, camera recording LED, green soda, a heart or creature in the crate.

Those are mostly easy once you have a list. Hard visual tells are the ones that reuse a normal object with a one-word change.

NPC families

Read cart NPCs for the default cast, then watch for:

  • Phone guy: McDonald’s shirt, smile, free hands, extra phone, new hair, missing mustache.
  • Sleeper: stretched across seats, blood from the eyes, bag recolored, replaced by a businessman, money bag underneath.
  • Typing girl: blonde hair, whisper (audio plus visual).
  • Clown: doll swap.
  • Extra body: man on the left at spawn, dead old man, everyone staring, everyone dead with a tall silhouette in the middle.

If it moves at you, it is an entity — glitch man, woman at the door, chasing silhouette. Turn back and do not wait for a jumpscare screenshot.

Audio families

Play with sound. Several anomalies have no reliable visual:

  • Girl whispering
  • Station announcer / PA “technical difficulties”
  • Choir at the glowing door
  • Metal pounding plus lights out
  • Agonizing screams with impending darkness
  • Phone call that is no longer a boring beep

If you used fullbright and muted the game, you have deleted two families at once. That is fine for a screenshot; it is terrible for a real clear.

The six-point scan (repeat every cart)

  1. Threshold extra bodies / mirror
  2. Lights, fire, smoke, heaven door
  3. Signs and door label
  4. Box, camera, arrows, handlebars
  5. Named NPCs and posters
  6. Two seconds of audio

Time budget in Normal: as long as you want. Time budget in speedrun: this scan still exists, it just shrinks. Skip the scenic stare; do not skip audio.

Official scanner versus your eyes

The anomaly scanner highlights some differences in Normal. It is not omniscient. Community lists still include tells the scanner is slow to catch, especially audio and door-label swaps. Use it as a second opinion after the scan, not before.

Third-party ESP scripts that paint every NPC red will also paint the normal sleeper red. That is noise. Read script safety before you trade the puzzle for a highlighter.

Practice drill

In Infinite mode, force yourself to name the tell out loud before you turn. “Green seats.” “Arrows inward.” “Whisper.” If you cannot name it, you do not get credit even if you guessed the correct direction. Named tells transfer to Normal. Unnamed panic does not.

When a tell is new to you, add it to the checklist mentally in the same family (sign, light, NPC, audio). That is how you get from 1 Anomaly Spotted to 50.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Cart 20, Cart 0, and the speedrun clock.

How many anomalies are in Last Stop?

Community catalogs sit in the 60–80 range depending on variants. You do not need every one to win; you need twenty correct calls. Track them on the checklist.

What if I cannot see the difference?

Check audio, the back of the Stops Remaining sign, and the Next Cart label. Then consult hard anomalies.

Does the scanner show every anomaly?

No. It is Normal-only and incomplete. See anomaly scanner.

Are jumpscares the same as anomalies?

Some entities jumpscare and still count as a mismatch. Treat them as turn-back events. Details on entities.
