Last Stop Cart 20 NPC roster
Default people and posters, plus the swaps that turn them into anomalies.
Cart NPCs are the baseline population of Last Stop. They are not companions. They do not sell you items. They exist so the game can change a shirt, a bag, a face, or a seat and ask whether you noticed. Memorize them in getting started, then use this page as the named list. Swaps that chase you are on entities. Difficulty of each swap is on the tier list.
Sleeping passenger
Default: collapsed across a seat with a bag. Your notes should include which side of the aisle, bag color, and that he is sleeping, not in a suit.
Common mismatches:
- Stretched across multiple seats (easy once seen, horrifying first time)
- Blood from the eyes
- Bag recolor (hard)
- Money bag underneath (low camera, hard on mobile)
- Replaced by a businessman in the same seat
- Mirrored to the other side of the car
If the seat is empty and Cart 20 had him, that absence is also a tell.
Phone guy
Default: standing or seated on a call, default shirt, default face, phone to the ear, default hair and mustache. This is the most swapped human because he has so many attach points.
Watch:
- McDonald’s shirt (easy)
- Smile (easy if you look at the face)
- Free hands / extra phone
- Haircut, bald, mustache removed, joke hair
- The call audio becoming a threat instead of a beep
If you only remember “there is a guy,” you will miss him. Remember a sentence: “Phone guy, left-forward, dark shirt, not smiling.” Adjust the sentence to whatever your Cart 20 actually showed; layouts can mirror.
Typing girl
Default: on a laptop or similar, default hair. Mismatches include blonde hair and a whisper. The whisper is audio; the hair is visual. You can get both at once. Headphones matter. See hard anomalies.
Clown
Default: a clown silhouette in the car. The loud swap is doll. Because the clown is already uncanny, beginners mark him as “the anomaly” even on Cart 20. He is not. He is furniture. Only the doll (or a missing clown) is the puzzle.
Extra body on the left
Some anomalies add a man as soon as you enter, before the aisle even reads as a room. Point 1 of the scan on how to spot anomalies exists for him. If Cart 20 had a clear threshold, any new body is a back-out.
Poster “cast”
Posters are NPCs that do not move:
- Missing person (can become WANTED or YOU)
- Makeup ad (can cry blood)
- Have a safe ride (can become NOT safe or tilt)
- Better Call Saul / man-face spam (quantity change is the tell)
- Birthday note (Quinn) and sad note to a bestie — presence versus absence, or text edits
- Mask sign telling you to turn back and wake up
Read them once in Cart 20 like they were people. Then you will notice when they lie.
What NPCs never do
They will not trade, emote on command, or join your speedrun. You cannot kill them. You cannot save them. Walking up to stare is how entities get a cheap jumpscare during a streak. Scan from the door, decide, move.
There is no code that randomizes the cast. Codes are empty. A patch could add a new default NPC; that would be in patch notes and would force a new Cart 20 sentence.
Practice
Infinite mode: each cart, name every default NPC you still see and one that changed. If you cannot name a change, you do not turn back. That drill is mean and effective. Then take it to Normal for You Won.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for Cart 20, Cart 0, and the speedrun clock.
Is the clown an anomaly in Cart 20?
No. If he is in the baseline, he is furniture. A doll swap later is the tell.
Do NPCs move between carts?
Defaults should match Cart 20. Movement, extra bodies, or seat swaps are mismatches. Chases are entities.
Can I skip looking at faces to save time?
Not if you want You Won. Smiles, stares, and hair swaps live on faces.
Are posters listed here on purpose?
Yes. They occupy the same attention budget as people. The spotting guide scans both in one pass.
